Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says a return to home learning is likely for many school students as the outbreak of the coronavirus intensifies.

In a bid to stop the spread of the killer virus, Melbourne was forced into a six-week lockdown from midnight on Wednesday. State school prep to year 10 students have been given an extra week of holidays as they wait on Mr Andrews for further directions. Mr Andrews said he would wait to see how the rate of infections progressed this week before making a final decision.
