Virgin Australia will follow in the footsteps of rival carrier Qantas with price hike for its lounge membership fees and the “re-introduction” of a joining fee.
Virgin Australia has revealed it will increase lounge membership fees and reintroduce the joining fee as the carrier's operating costs increase.
A Virgin Australia spokesperson told SkyNews.com.au the increase comes amid a rise in operations costs for the carrier. The airline alerted its 11 million Velocity members of the changes late Friday to give travellers the opportunity to join the lounge membership program before the fee is implemented or the annual fee increases.
Virgin’s lounge membership fee bump comes a month after the airline’s main competitor Qantas raised its domestic club lounge fee by 17 per cent.
