Churches ‘imaginatively try to re-create Easter services online’ | Sky News AustraliaPeter Kurti from the Centre for Independent Studies says 'churches are trying to re-create some experience of the common life” over the Easter weekend in spite of the lockdown measures enforced by the government.\n\nChurches along with pubs, clubs, gyms, cinemas and casinos have been forced to close their doors for the past few weeks in a bid to slow the spread of the coronavirus.\n\nMr Kurti told Sky News “it’s been a big challenge for churches around the country and indeed around the world”. \n\nAccording to Mr Kurti, many pastors and priests have responded “imaginatively” to the lockdown restrictions by moving their religious services online. \n\n“They’ve pre-recorded some services and put them up on social media or they’ve live-streamed and people can click and join a service remotely,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.\n\nMr Kurti added the main challenge for members of the congregation was the inability “to come together”.\n\n“That time of fellowship that we experience by coming together and worshipping together and sharing a common life becomes very hard,” he said. \n
