It’s high time the Yes camp did some truth-telling of its own.

Those advocating for a Yes vote at the upcoming referendum to enshrine an Aboriginal Voice to our federal parliament and executive have constantly accused the No side of “confusion” and “peddling” misinformation.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has sought to dismiss such concerns as “conspiracy theories”, but the evidence, as demonstrated by the additional documentation on the Uluru Statement from the Heart obtained by Shadow Indigenous Affairs Minister, Senator Jacinta Price, and Sky News Australia’s Peta Credlin, is clearly not on his side.

There, in interpreting the sections of the constitution relating to indigenous people, the Supreme Court of Canada has decided government has a special “fiduciary duty” under the law to them. The professors argue the same could happen with the Voice, leading potentially to schemes of monetary compensation, which former NSW Court of Appeal judge Terence Cole has also argued could occur.

In a document entitled ‘Voice, Treaty, Truth: Q&A with Professor Megan Davis’ the Voice activist discusses the concept of reparations as something that flows from the Uluru Statement from the Heart. Picture: NCA NewsWire Of course, no details have ever been provided by Davis, or any others, on these aspects, since in their view it was not possible for every question to be addressed before the referendum.

“We have a population who have lived on our country for more than 200 years and there has never been any formal grappling with that original grievance; the dispossession. There has been no conversation about reparations for that… so addressing the original grievance is the key for our people to move forward.”This document contains some other very interesting statements by Davis.Davis says it is “utterly consistent with the Black Lives Matter movement that has come out of America.

Ms Markson said the Prime Minister was “riding high” in the polls before he started campaigning for the Voice. “The Voice campaign is dragging support for Albanese down, and Albanese is dragging support for the Voice down,” she said. “It's a downward spiral, and it looks like come October 14, according to today's polls, it won't be a good outcome for either the Voice or Albanese's own political fortunes.”
