Wanted child sex offender, Allan Hopkins has been arrested in NSW after a manhunt across four states. South Australia police allege Hopkins, 44, committed serious sexual offences against a child earlier this month, then fled interstate. He was reportedly sighted in Adelaide and in Victoria, then his Mazda BT-50 ute was found abandoned on the Barrier Hwy in NSW last week. It is alleged Hopkins was hiding in southeast Queensland and committed further offences in Victoria.
The 44-year-old is currently in custody of police in Moree, near the Queensland border, but is yet to be charged. “South Australia police would like to thank all the other states authorities for their assistance in bringing this matter to a conclusion,” SA police said. “More information will be provided when it comes to hand.” Hopkins was declared a high-risk offender last year and put on a supervision order that expired last month.
