A brief conversation and a trail of clues have led to a family being reunited with war medals stolen almost 40 years ago.
The medals were stolen in Sydney and discovered with a dealer in PerthThe six medals belonging to Chief Petty Officer Laurence Cutts, who served in the Royal Australian Navy, were stolen in 1982 from a home in Willoughby, Sydney.
"He was very proud of his war service. He marched every Anzac Day that I can remember," Ms Russell said. The stalemate could have signalled another dead-end, but a chance conversation at a police station while searching for a Justice of the Peace in August by Mr Cutts' great-granddaughter Tiarne Russell set off a chain of events.
