An Australian mother is cautioning others on the dangers of travelling to Bali after a bag snatching incident left her shell-shocked.
In a post shared to the Bali Bogans Facebook group on Sunday, one woman warned other travellers of a bag snatching incident involving a motorbike pillion passenger in Seminyak.
The woman said her mother had bent over along a bend in the road when a motorbike flew past and the passenger snatched her bag.She said the incident could have been far worse if the bag's strap had not broke during the snatch and grab.“Now when we go out we walk on the opposite side to the way the traffic is going and I walk on the inside. I also put my bag on the inside ,” she posted to the group on her mum's behalf.
“Backpacks have thicker straps and are hard to cut or break and I never carry everything in it. I put card, money etc in different pockets of my clothes and on my body and I don’t wear expensive jewellery whilst over there. I love Bali and got there regularly.” The Smart Traveller website says theft, robbery, pickpocketing and bag and phone snatching commonly occurs Bali."We continue to advise exercise a high degree of caution to Indonesia overall. Higher levels apply in some areas," an update on their website reads.
