Leading No Campaigner Warren Mundine has pulled out of the New South Wales Senate race opening. The Senate spot will be vacated at the end of September following the retirement of Marise Payne. Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says this withdrawal of Mr Mundine has “opened the door” for former New South Wales transport minister Andrew Constance to win that preselection and enter the senate. “He’s seen as the preselection frontrunner now,” Mr Clennell said. “Mr Mundine’s withdrawal comes after comments he made about treaties and changing Australia Day which were at odds with the views of Liberal leader Peter Dutton. “I contacted him yesterday and Mr Mundine told me he runs a couple of businesses, is heavily involved in the ‘No’ Voice campaign and has too much on to run for the Senate.”
