A seal pup has been discovered far from home on a South Australian farm several kilometres from the ocean. 7NEWS
.“We’ve had a lot of rain and everything is looking really good around here, and then this seal turns up in this wheat crop, and I’m not entirely sure if that’s a good sign or a bad sign, but hopefully it means that more rain is on the way.”
Eyre Peninsula wheat farmers were shocked to find this lone seal pup waddling in their wheat crop far from the sea.the seal pup looked thin, and was incredibly lucky to be found, as foxes are common on the farm. Despite some feisty behaviour common in seals, Kaden was able to return the seal pup to the beach without incident and it made its way back into the water.
The coastal town where the pup wound up is just over 100km south of Whyalla, and edges onto the Spencer Gulf.While the mothers are out hunting, it’s common for seal pups to hide off the beach, nestled safely - but in some cases, they can wander off and get lost.
