The iconic ship, which was built in 1946, was known as “Britain’s finest pleasure steamer”, it sailed from Craigendoran on the Firth of Clyde to Arrochar on Loch Long until 1973.
Breathtaking new footage has been released of the Waverley steamer sailing past the Riverside Museum .
The ship was originally a replacement for the PS Waverley which sunk during WW2 while evacuating troops from Dunkirk in 1940. Its more modern replacement was completed by Glasgow shipbuilder A. & J. Inglis. Further work was carried out in 2009 to repair the boiler with an appeal launched to raise £2.3 million to recommission the ship. It re-launched in 2020 but had its season cut short when it struck Brodick pier, damaging its bow.
