Wayne Rooney will continue his pundit gig at this summer's European championships after appearing on Sky Sports for Manchester United fixtures
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney will be back on our television screens over the summer as a pundit for Euro 2024. The 38-year-old has made a handful of recent appearances on Sky Sports, which followed a cameo on TNT Sports, and his presence in front of the camera will continue over the next few months as he represents the BBC.
"You have to build the team around Bruno ," he said following the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal earlier this month. "He's the one player with quality, he has got fight in him." Addressing who the club could keep hold of this summer, he continued: "I think the young players and then... all the other players get rid of them. I think you keep the young players, you keep Bruno and I think it has to be a massive clear out. It has to be.
"Don't get me wrong, these players are good players, and good Premier League players, but to compete with Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal, they need better players." Following his retirement in 2021, Rooney turned to management with his first post at Derby County before he then took charge at DC United. Back in October, Rooney was appointed as Birmingham City's new manager following a complete takeover by American owners but his stint was largely unsuccessful and he was sacked under three months later.
