'We know who you are': AFP reveals details of Medibank hackers

The Australian Federal Police says the individuals responsible for the cyber attack into Medibank was from one country and issued a warning to the criminals after more sensitive data was released on Friday.

AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw said the investigation points to a group of"loosely affiliated" cyber criminals who are likely responsible for breaches in other countries.

He reiterated the point $AUD 15 million ransom would not be paid to the offenders as it would put Australians at further risk in the future.

"I am disgusted by the perpetrators of this criminal act and I've certainly authorised the AFP Commissioner later today to disclose where these attacks are coming from," he told reporters after attending a Sydney Remembrance Day ceremony.
