Former Labor MP Michael Danby says Australia needs to be “much more serious about international affairs.”
This comes after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and French President Emmanuel Macron met in Paris, where they put the $90 billion scrapped submarine deal behind them and discussed the war in Ukraine and climate change.
“They’ve got a lot of money and influence, and we should use a bucket of their money to influence – I wouldn’t say bribe – the South Pacific states,” Mr Danby told Sky News host Chris Smith.
