South-east Queensland is expected to cop rainfall this coming weekend.
Queensland’s sunshine will be replaced by gloomy days and heavy rainfall as a weather system pushes its way into the south-east.Heavy showers are expected to hit south-east Queensland this week.“There’s a few showers offshore [on Wednesday] but tomorrow we’ll start to see them being pushed to south-east Queensland.”“South-east Queensland will feel most of the effects on Friday and it is likely to stick around,” she said.
“There is a trough sucking up the air and creating a cloud band that is moving east with a reasonable amount of rainfall to hit Queensland.Kirkup said Friday and Saturday could bring 10 to 20 millimetres of rain a day around Greater Brisbane and places such as Gatton would receive 10 to 15 millimetres.Brisbane was expected to reach a minimum of 13 degrees on Saturday with rainfall and light winds of 15 to 20 kilometres an hour in the afternoon.
Kirkup said a separate trough that would develop on Sunday would determine whether Brisbane would cop more rain. Queensland school students have been on holidays since the weekend and would continue their break until the next term began on July 11.
