"We said hello, we had a little private chat and he sat down, the cameras were all set and before we go live he says, 'okay Nigel let's have some fun with this,'" Mr Farage told Murray on Thursday night. “You were a ‘destructive President’, ‘a traitor to the west’, and he's now Australia's ambassador in Washington, would you take a phone call from him?”“I don't know much about him. I heard he was a little bit nasty.”

"The fact is, you cannot, particularly given the AUKUS deal, have somebody as your ambassador who is openly, wilfully abusive," he said.
