The federal election campaign has unofficially kicked off, but the head of the electoral commission has warned of delayed results and the “most complex” national poll in history.
With both major party leaders already hitting the hustings, the Australian Electoral Commission has been planning for months for what will be a heated and intricate election.

While remaining tight-lipped about specific options due to concerns the circumstances could change, Mr Rogers said the AEC will try to ensure “every single Australian can exercise their franchise”.
