I can describe the vast differences between the life of a mother of a toddler in Australia and Finland because I have lived those differences myself.

Time spent finding and getting a childcare place – Sanna didn’t have to worry about this. She and her partner just got a state-mandated spot in a state-funded childcare centre for their kid from the age of 10 months in their local suburb. And it costs only about $21 a day. Time spent making lunches for herself– Sanna doesn’t even make lunch for herself. Finnish work colleagues go together for a fast, three-course meal in the middle of the working day at either workplace canteens or nearby restaurants. Ditto for the partner.
