OPINION: Microsoft has incorporated ChatGPT into Bing. It could be the start of a new era where searching for information for fun or work has never been easier.

While newsrooms have vast databases of old stories, images, speeches and columns that journalists can sift through, it’s fair to say that news organisations are not the most advanced tech hubs. But as I experimented with generating SEO-optimised headlines and reworking financial reports into news copy, I began to lament that I couldn’t really leverage and exploit the thousands of hours of research and work that I, and all of my colleagues, had already done.
