Severe weather warnings are in place across parts of Tasmania as cool temperatures stretch across Australia.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, west to southwesterly winds over Tasmania"will strengthen this evening as a low pressure system passes swiftly to the south and an associated trough crosses the state.""The wind risk is expected to peak with the passage of a trough during the evening, then gradually ease by early Friday morning," the warning read. The next weather update will be issued at 5pm.
Launceston, in Tasmania's north, is also only expected to see slight showers, with wind gusts of up to 40 kilometres per hour. These winds will move across the central coast into Friday.
