A judge rules the allegations the man, who can't be named, lied to the secretive commission were based on questions that were 'too ambiguous'.
William Tyrrell's foster father has been found not guilty of lying to the NSW Crime Commission about his wife assaulting another child in their care.Prosecutors alleged he withheld knowledge of an assault on a child who was not William Tyrrell
The foster mother was also charged with lying during the hearing and was also found not guilty last year. In a statement, the foster father's solicitor Lauren MacDougall said her client "always maintained his innocence in relation to these charges and is glad the court found that way".The prosecution had argued recordings played to the court proved the foster father knew about the alleged assaults before the crime commission hearing.
"The recording material proves that his evidence was false because he denied knowing about incidents or being told certain things that had been disclosed to him," he told the courtDefence lawyer Phillip English argued the line of questioning his client faced during the crime commission hearing about the assault on another child was not relevant to the William Tyrrell investigation and therefore not lawful.
