Damaging winds forecast for Sydney, NSW coast after wet morning

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for Sydney and large parts of coastal NSW, with some areas south of the city recording gusts in excess of 100km/h after a rainy morning.

Pittwater Road at Dee Why earlier on Tuesday morning, as heavy rain and winds affect road conditions in Sydney.Little Bay, in Sydney's south-east, recorded 23 millimetres of rain between 9am on Monday and 7am on Tuesday, most of which fell in the few hours before sunrise. NSW SES said they had responded to more than 150 jobs across the state since midnight on Sunday, advising residents to park their cars undercover and away from trees.

"Areas close to the coast, such as [Sydney's] eastern suburbs, may see those sort of wind speeds today," Ms Kamitakahara said.
