SUNDAY MAIL EXCLUSIVE: Omaze are offering up the £3.5m property at Gleneagles but the winner will be neighbours with taxi tycoon Steven Malcolm.

The winner of a £3.5million home in a luxury charity raffle will end up being neighbours with a controversial businessman with gangland links.

Malcolm, 59, was with Steven “Bonzo” Daniel at a Rangers match only hours before Daniel almost died in a horrific machete attack. Malcolm later bought a taxi firm linked to him.View gallery A local resident said: “It’s a stunning house. But the company, even if they did know, haven't publicised any neighbour details..”Convicted fraudster Barry Hughes, previously occupied a house in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire, owned by the taxi boss.

The raffled house has its own entertainment room, leisure suite, cinema room, one-bedroom guest annexe and indoor golf simulator. Four years ago he launched a £6million legal action against the American manufacturers of a three-storey aquarium that dominated the centre of the home. Unknown to Daniel and Malcolm, the Skoda Octavia had been bugged with a tracking device and after dropping off Malcolm, Daniel was followed in a 100ph chase through the city and then attacked.Three years earlier we had photographed Malcolm leaving his Glasgow Private Hire HQ with Daniel and a convicted drug dealer, who we cannot name for legal reasons.
