Tyler Gilmore, brother of one of the four accused in the murder of Cassius Turvey, provided testimony detailing his observations of the accused, including seeing Brodie Palmer with weapons shortly before the fatal attack.
Tyler Gilmore, the brother of one of four people accused of murdering 15-year-old Cassius Turvey , testified via video link at the WA Supreme Court. He recounted seeing one of the accused, Brodie Palmer , holding the handles of 'two or three' shopping trolleys containing weapons in an alleyway next to his house shortly before the fatal attack.
Gilmore stated that Palmer and the other three accused, including his sister Aleesha Gilmore, Jack Brearley, and Mitchell Forth, left the house in a car, taking the weapons with them.He further revealed that the group returned about an hour later, with Aleesha Gilmore walking first, followed by the three men in a car. Gilmore claimed that Palmer and Forth took his sister to the hospital. Upon her return that night, she allegedly began helping Brearley cut his hair, an act prosecutors believe was an attempt to alter his appearance. During cross-examination by Palmer's lawyer, Christian Porter, Gilmore admitted to lying in a previous statement to police, where he stated he didn't know why the four had left the house before the attack on Cassius Turvey. He confessed to lying to protect his sister and Brearley, although he acknowledged that Brearley was no longer a close friend. The trial centers around the alleged murder of Cassius Turvey, who was struck with a metal pole after being chased into bushland in October 2022. He died in hospital ten days later. The prosecution alleges that the attack stemmed from a 'love triangle' involving Turvey, Aleesha Gilmore, and Brearley. Earlier events leading up to the murder included the smashing of Brearley's car windows and threats made against him and Aleesha Gilmore. The prosecutor described the mood of the accused as 'a little bit drunk' when they left the house with the weapons.
