9news.com.au understands the flight was rocked by the event as it descended into Brisbane Airport just before 3.15pm AEST yesterday. A woman in her 40s and a child were taken to The Prince Charles Hospital in stable condition with bruises and lacerations."Our pilots and cabin crew are highly trained to manage a range of onboard events, including turbulence events but we know this would have been very unsettling and we thank customers for their cooperation," a Qantas spokesperson said. 

The seatbelt sign is believed to have been switched on five minutes before turbulence hit and passengers and crew members were directed to remain seated.Yesterday, Brisbane was hit by severe thunderstorms as three air systems collided over south-east Queensland. Torrential rain, winds and lightning lashed residents and left damage across the region.Continue reading
