NT Police are investigating after a car and a truck collided in the remote Northern Territory on Friday, leaving two dead and two others injured.

NT Police said it received a report of a serious crash involving a car and a truck on the Roper Highway between Mataranka and Ngukurr shortly before 5pm.Two others who were in the same vehicle needed treatment for their injuries."Detectives from the Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating," NT Police said.
There have now been 31 deaths on Northern Territory roads this year, compared to 20 at the same time in 2021.
