A woman has been arrested after a 10-year-old girl was found dead on the Gold Coast with her throat slashed. Queensland Police were called to a Carrara unit by a male relative about 6pm on Tuesday, where the girl was found unresponsive. Emergency services attempted to revive her, however, she was declared dead at the scene, triggering a homicide investigation.
Serafim did not reveal whether police had recovered a weapon but said the child lived at the address where her body was found and her next of kin had been notified. “I don’t know what has occurred in relation to how the girl has passed but as the inquiries come out we will obviously look at which way the investigation will go from there,” she said. On Wednesday morning, police revealed a 46-year-old woman had been taken into custody near the residence at 10.25pm on Wednesday.
