A dad led police on a dangerous chase where he hit 60mph in a 30mph zone and forced a woman to dive for cover as he sped through a red light just two months after being banned from the road. Mark Williams was first noticed by cops in the streets of Kirkby on July 21 when he yanked on his handbrake, causing smoke to rise from his tyres.
After running more red lights and speeding past groups of children, he ignored a 'no entry' sign and was cornered by cops. Attempting to reverse out of the trap, he crashed into a silver Ford Fiesta. The court heard Williams, of Kirkby, had nine past convictions for 18 offences. These included drink driving, aggravated vehicle taking, and driving under the influence of drugs, and he had been disqualified from driving just two months before the incident - his second such ban.
