A 69-year-old man died after the tourist bus rolled on Monday afternoon in Central Australia. Police are investigating what happened.

A 67-year-old woman is today in intensive care following a tour bus rollover in Central Australia which killed a 69-year-old man Monday afternoon.A 69-year-old male passenger died at the sceneNorthern Territory police are investigating what caused the crash, which took place at about 3:30pm on Larapinta Drive near Hermannsburg, just over one hour west of Alice Springs.

"The tour bus, carrying 19 passengers from interstate, was travelling inbound east of Hermannsburg when it left the roadway and rolled several times before coming to a stop on the side of the road," police said in a statement. The 69-year-old man died at the scene and five other patients were taken to Alice Springs Hospital for further treatment.The 67-year-old woman remains in a stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit.Two men — a 60-year-old man who sustained serious injuries and a 68-year-old with minor injuries — were also transported to the facility.

The driver and remaining passengers received lacerations and bruising, and were taken to Alice Springs after the incident. Detectives from the NT Police Major Crash Investigation Unit and NT Worksafe are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
