‘Wonder if he cares enough’: NRL icon’s son’s blunt Latrell call
“I think he’s overrated, and sometimes I wonder if he cares enough. It’s a fact that he’s being paid as a marquee player but hasn’t stepped up when required.”Cody Walker and Latrell Mitchell.Earlier this week, South Sydney assistant coach Sam Burgess departed the club amid reports he and Rabbitohs coach Jason Demetriou were in conflict over the treatment of star players Mitchell and Cody Walker.
Meanwhile, Mitchell and Souths captain Cam Murray reportedly had an exchange earlier in the season where the skipper criticised the fullback for his effort.“Nick Politis and Trent Robinson are really smart guys. “Latrell was outstanding at their club. He won comps and played for Australia. And then they got rid of him. There’s got to be an underlying reason why.”
The Rabbitohs, who were top of the NRL ladder after Round 11, are in danger of missing finals unless they can defeat the Roosters at Accor Stadium next week. The Round 27 contest will likely decide which of the two clubs squeezes the top eight.
