One Direction star Liam Payne has died at the age of 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina.

Payne had posted on his Snapchat about an hour before reports of his death emerged, including videos of him and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy discussing their love for Argentina, however it is not known when the footage was filmed. Payne had been open about his past troubles with alcohol and drugs in a YouTube video posted last year.
The group rocketed to stardom and became a global sensation with a number of popular hits including What Makes You Beautiful, One Thing, Little Things, Best Song Ever and Story of My Life. The star's personal life had been making headlines recently after his ex-fiancée Maya Henry accused him of repeatedly contacting her and issued a cease and desist letter to Payne last week according to the Daily Mail.
Tributes poured in for the beloved star from fans and celebrities on social media in the immediate aftermath of the news.
