Why is the chemistry in the Bills' quarterback room so uncommon? Josh Allen is the franchise QB, but the two guys behind him make the dynamic in Buffalo special. More via kalynkahler:
Allen was golfing in Newport, Calif., with his old pal Barkley, who had been his backup in 2018, 2019 and 2020, when Bills general manager Brandon Beane called. He asked his quarterback if he could give Miller a call because the Bills were trying to recruit the pass rusher to come to Buffalo.
The next day, Allen called Barkley and asked if he wanted to come back to Buffalo. Barkley didn’t hear from Beane about it then, but a week later, he signed with Buffalo. “That made me pretty happy,” Allen said. Barkley said his wife, Brittany, cried out of happiness when he told her he was signing with Buffalo again.
Between the two of them, they’ve played for 14 NFL teams, not including Buffalo. “I can trust them because they’ve seen it all,” Allen said. “They’ve been around so many different offenses and they have seen so many defenses that whatever they say, I believe in it.” staff, Brady said he wasn’t looking for any specific title, but he prioritized a position like this that would allow him to learn from being part of a successful organization.Allen says having two veterans in the room, both with so much experience in football and life, has helped to keep him grounded. These quarterbacks all love Jesus, golf, cigars and playing Settlers of Catan . Barkley and Keenum’s wives and kids and Allen’s girlfriend have all become good friends.
“It’s not just a lecture in there from Dorsey and Joe,” Keenum said. “It’s good back and forth, good dialogue, we are all learning from each other.”
