Employment Minister Tony Burke says the workers who were illegally sacked by Qantas during COVID “did nothing wrong”. The Transport Workers Union were celebrating their win after the High Court found Qantas had illegally sacked 1,700 workers during COVID. “The government welcomes the decision of the High Court today, and we congratulate the workers, and we congratulate the Transport Workers Union, which took this case forward,” Mr Burke said during Question Time on Wednesday. “I say to the workers who were illegally sacked, you did nothing wrong. “Qantas broke the law, and the government of the time left you stranded.”
