A passenger in a van carrying five people died when it collided with another vehicle at a Bundaberg intersection in Queensland’s Wide Bay–Burnett region on Saturday. The van crashed with a Mazda BT-50 at the intersection of Elliot Heads Rd as it was travelling on Hummock Rd in Windermere at about 7.25pm. The 25-year-old Bundaberg East man died at the scene, Queensland Police said. Seven others were also injured in the crash.
The driver of the white Toyota Hiace van, a 33-year-old Bundaberg East man, has since been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, causing death. The three other van passengers were taken to Bundaberg Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mazda and its three occupants were also taken to Bundaberg Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
