Emma Gibson has walked away from debtors including shipping companies and social media influencers after quitting as CEO of wellness start-up Aquamamma.
Rich Lister Emma Gibson has resigned as chief executive of wellness start-up Aquamamma, leaving behind millions of dollars of unpaid invoices owed by the company, with about 20 employees quitting in the past 18 months and an investigation into non-payment of superannuation and tax under way.
Since then, Aquamamma has been plagued by cashflow dramas, and its social media accounts show hundreds of customers questioning when their products will be delivered or demanding refunds.Ms Gibson, who is the daughter of Hostplus Superannuation board director David Gibson, told employees that she had resigned for health reasons. She did not respond to questions.
Aquamamma pitches itself as a hydration product for pregnant women. It originally manufactured its effervescent powder through Sydney-based pharmaceutical company MundiPharma.However, it switched manufacturers in 2020, opting to work with a New Zealand company. Another comes from a freight and logistics company tasked with delivering Aquamamma products from New Zealand to the United States.
