A young woman who thought she was meeting a man she’d been talking with on Tinder was allegedly gang raped at a home in Belmore in Sydney’s south west. 7NEWS
A 24-year-old man has been charged with six counts of aggravated sexual assault in the company of others and refused bail to attend Liverpool Local Court on Friday evening.
Another 19-year-old man was arrested at Granville Police Station and charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault in the company of others.Police are still searching for the other three men involved in the alleged incident.NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty said that the woman and the man had built up relationship online.“They [allegedly] arrived a short time after he arrived at the premises,” Doherty said.
“We are looking into the identity of the other persons present during that and their exact roles in those [alleged] offences.” “The woman involved did take a number of steps to try and ensure her safety, and it’s through those steps that we’ve been able to identify these people.” NSW Police urge people using dating apps to let others know with who and when you are meeting someone, and to “meet in public for the first few meetings”.
