An ongoing crisis has claimed eight Northern Territory lives in just five months, now Coroner Elisabeth Armitage is about to release a landmark report on the issues behind the human suffering.

A landmark inquiry held across courtrooms in Darwin and Alice Springs over four weeks last year examined the deaths of four women and the failings by the systems designed to protect them.The Northern Territory coroner has conducted a landmark inquiry into the domestic violence deaths of four Indigenous women and the government's response.

"Deaths of Aboriginal women in the Northern Territory don't capture the national attention that they should and I find it deeply distressing angering how little of our national attention is given to something that is significant and important a process as this inquest," national DFSV Commissioner Micaela Cronin said.

In the past five months alone, eight Territorians have died allegedly at the hands of their partners. In jails, where more than half of the territory's prison population are locked up for domestic violence offences, the court heard
