Bare knuckle champion Perry had spoken a big game and although he put up a fight, Paul was clearly the better fighter, claiming knockdowns in the first, second and sixth rounds.
As is the issue with many MMA fighters, he fought with his hands too low, allowing Paul to land plenty of strong bodyshots. After the fifth, combat sports reporter Ariel Helwani said: “It honestly defies logic that he is still standing. His only hope is to be as dirty as possible and it might not be enough.” But it didn’t last too much long as after the third knockdown, a stumbling Perry left the referee no choice but to wave off the fight, leading the pandemonium in the ring. “There is a new king of violence,” DAZN commentator Todd Grisham said, in reference to Perry winning the “King of Violence” belt in his BKFC win against Eddie Alvarez last December. While a win is a win and Paul is now 10-1, questions continue to be asked about the social media star turned boxer.But Perry usually fights at middleweight, which is 175 pounds , while his last fight was at 185 pounds — the fight against Paul was at cruiserweight, or 205 pounds .Paul has also been criticised for not fighting boxers, losing his only fight to Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia in February 2023. He did claim first-round KO's against Andre August and Ryan Bourland, who are both one-star boxing prospects according to Boxrec. Otherwise he’s mainly fought UFC fighters in Perry, Nate Diaaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. Paul’s next fight will likely be former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, but Tyson himself is a 58-year-old man, who hasn’t fought professionally since his loss to Kevin McBirde in 2005. The fight has been rescheduled for November 15 after Tyson pulled out after having an ulcer flare up.And Paul took the chance to call out UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for a fight after the Tyson bout.“I’m the king of this. I’m the king of this. Come over. We can make it happen. “I want you, Alex Pereira. … I just beat a BKFC champion. I’ve beat multiple UFC champions. He said he wants to box. So Alex Pereira, after Mike Tyson, let’s make it happen.”Former UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling gave Paul his props. “Respect to Jake Paul for embracing combat sports and WINNING, but we need one for the MMA guys. Great scrap so far! Can’t count Perry out! And Jake boxing very well,” Sterling tweeted. “I know there’s a size difference in a lot of Paul fights, but the man is constantly improving in each fight. Credit to him for that part. I would like to see him fight more guys his size like he did with the Fury fight. He could do something in this sport for sure.”UFC fighter Derek Brunson added: “Mike Perry out here acting a fool.” Saudi Arabian General Minister for Entertainment Turki Alalshikh swiped: “this is not boxing …”, later labelling the fight “a circus”.CBS analyst and Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson commented: “How long are we going to pretend that Jake Paul is beating people his size or his age? The one person he fought his size and age, he lost too.” UFC legend Conor McGregor tweeted: “Jake Paul is the biggest p**sbag I have ever seen in my life. 40 pound weight difference, juiced out of his head, and still s**tting himself in there. Nakisa you should take him to Vegas oh that’s right you could never, the athletic commission testing, real testing, real fighting. B***h a**es. You could never. And then calling out 60year old Mike Tyson fresh off an in flight medical emergency? I swear to god, a fat can of b***h p**s. Most valuable p**sbag.” The MMA Guru account opined: “Alex Pereira would do unspeakable things to you in a boxing match, but you know that, which is why you called him out whilst he is locked into a 7 fight contract with the UFC.” One fan suggested: “Dana White could easily end this whole charade, just let Alex Pereira fight Jake Paul.”
