The Wilmington bushfire has been burning in Mount Remarkable National Park since Monday.More than 2,000 hectares of scrubland in South Australia's Mount Remarkable National Park have burnt over four days.
SA Country Fire Service said the Wilmington scrub fire, about 3.5 hours north of Adelaide, had burnt 2,800 hectares of hard-to-access terrain since Monday. Mount Remarkable National Park is 18,000 hectares in size and a popular camping site in the region, featuring the well-known Alligator Gorge. "The fire intensity becomes so much that we end up with fires that spot out over the containment lines."A CFS firefighter suffered burn injuries while battling the blaze on Monday, and is still in hospital receiving medical treatment.
