Seismologists have predicted earthquakes could hit the New South Wales Upper Hunter region for the next two months.Aftershocks are expected to rattle the New South Wales Upper Hunter region for months following two large earthquakes felt as far as Sydney.
Hadi Ghasemi, a senior seismologist at Geoscience Australia, said another large quake may strike soon. The chimney of a century-old building in Muswellbrook crumbled, sending bricks tumbling three storeys into the laneway below. Mr Turnbull said aftershocks posed a greater risk to older structures, particularly masonry buildings which were not reinforced.
