Flights between Broome and Kununurra are set to be capped at $199 one way, and the government will extend subsidies for flights between Perth and some regional WA towns.

The West Australian government will subsidise Airnorth and Nexus flights for the first time amid an expansion of its Affordable Airfares program.The government has also extended subsidised flights between Perth and regional WA towns.

The government's Affordable Airfares Program will subsidise Airnorth and Nexus Airlines flights between Broome and Kununurra for the first time, with fares to be capped at $199 one way. Funding has also been extended to Virgin Australia and Qantas, which already offer capped fares for residents between Perth and Exmouth, Broome and Kununurra.Since the scheme began six years ago, more than 200,000 capped airfares have been flown in WA.

WA Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti said the government was pleased to be able to support the airlines and provide cost-of-living relief to Kimberley residents.
