The judge-only trial was ordered to be held ahead of the state election, following fears a youth crime political campaign would have prejudiced a jury. At some point that evening, the teenagers walked down the street towards the family's property and found their door was unlocked about 11:30pm."The co-offender moved his hand, the one holding the knife forward, and appears to place it directly in front of the accused's face," crown prosecutor David Nardone said.
