Additional ADF forces have joined Queensland Police at the state's border with NSW as officers crackdown on 'border hoppers' attempting to flee other COVID-19 riddled states.

Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman thanked the ADF on Wednesday for its “fantastic level of support” to policing operations engaged in “keeping Queenslanders safe”.

He also addressed the changes made on Wednesday by the Premier in relation to border restrictions, with a two-week hiatus imposed on all new hotel quarantine arrivals in Queensland. “What we want to do is maintain those current levels of restrictions or make it even better. Those CHO instructions or directions are absolutely vital in making sure that we’re able to achieve that outcome,” he said.
