Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says legislation on climate change will be a “key focus” for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during Question Time.
“For the last few parliaments, thanks to rising energy prices and problems with power supply, climate change has been an issue for governments to avoid or to play defence on,” he told Sky News Australia.
“It’s my understanding the climate change legislation, which seeks to enshrine a 43 per cent reduction in 2005 carbon emissions by 2030, will be introduced to the House of Representatives next week.” Mr Clennell said there is “no guarantee” the Greens will pass this through the Senate, as they are aiming for a higher emissions reduction target.
