As cricket's governing body in Victoria works out how the sport will work this season, one thing's for sure — teams won't be enjoying their customary communal tea.

Teams coming together to share afternoon tea between innings is one of the hallmarks of community cricket, but the governing body of the game in Victoria says the tradition is being put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Having communal afternoon teas that are on a communal table ... is another great benefit of the clubs getting together," Cricket Victoria head of member services Paul Milo said.He said cricketers would have to bring their own food to limit the chance of spreading COVID-19. "I think you've got to have at least three different styles, and egg's important ... or better yet curried egg ," Philip said.
