It's also a spot for fly-tipping
A woman from Clifton has voiced her anger at 'eyesore' overgrowth blocking access to garages, one of which she rents from Nottingham City Homes . Susannah Lucas, 40, uses one of the garages down a lane off Summerwood Lane, where she lives.
The NCH tenant, who is a care worker based at Clifton View Nursing Home, pays around £6 per week to use the garage. She is barely able to get down the lane to access it herself, let alone drive a vehicle that's stored there. Susannah has her husband's father's 1987 Mk 1 Vauxhall Cavalier stored there.
It had previously been taken out for a spin but this has not been able to happen lately because of the rampant foliage. And with it being so overgrown, Susannah says there have been cases of fly tipping. She is keen for it to be cut back.Susannah said: "It looks that much of an eyesore down there, people think they can fly tip their rubbish there. It's like a haven for rats. I can barely get down there because of how overgrown it is.
"Weeds are coming up and it's cracking all the concrete, it's unsafe to go down there anyway. I've been trying to get the hedge cut by Nottingham City Council for the past couple of years, but I haven't been able to get anywhere." A spokesperson for Nottingham City Homes said: "Hedges and weeds are looked after by Nottingham City Council on our behalf. We are currently in the process of surveying all our garage sites across the city to see what improvements may be needed." Nottingham City Council has confirmed it will look into this.
