“I’m already at The Lodge. I have moved most of my personal effects from my flat in Canberra there across to The Lodge plus some things down from Sydney,” he told“It’s the national capital. And that is important. Family considerations are why I’ll spend time in Sydney as well.”Albanese’s predecessor Scott Morrison moved into the prime minister’s Sydney residence, Kirribilli House, with his family in 2018 – effectively governing primarily from the city.
He was the third prime minister in the past two decades to base himself from the residence, after John Howard and Tony Abbott. While in the process of moving to the capital full-time, Albanese made an appearance in Canberra on Saturday as part of the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations. “Above all, she has stood with Australia as a true and steadfast friend, through the good times and also the hard times.”
