Shocked residents filmed the scene which showed around five police vehicles and one officer with a ram and crowbar.
A major emergency presence was reported in the Campview Road area of Bonnyrigg in Midlothian at about 6.40pm last night.
Officers carrying firearms were spotted alongside regular police officers as they responded to an incident, Edinburgh Live reports. It is understood officers arrived on the street around 6.40pm but the circumstances surrounding the incident are not currently known. A local resident said that they saw "armed officers and a dog response unit". The road was also blocked to traffic during the incident.
