We saw “astonishing exchanges” between the ABC’s Managing Director and furious MPs over the national broadcaster’s report on the Alice Springs town meeting, according to Sky News host Rita Panahi.
Ms Panahi’s remarks come after ABC Managing Director David Anderson fronted Senate Estimates amid recent controversies around its coverage of Alice Springs and its social media policy.
“Today we saw astonishing exchanges between ABC boss David Anderson and furious MPs demanding to know how a discredited report claiming Alice Springs locals concerned about violent crime were somehow motivated by racism,” Ms Panahi said. “The ABC journalist, their Indigenous affairs reporter who compiled the AM report, did not attend the meeting – she was not even in the room.”
