The search for an Australian woman who vanished while hiking in Canada has ended in tragedy, with her family confirming they lost their 'beautiful baby girl'.
On Saturday, Queenslander Julia-Mary Lane embarked on a trek on the Bear Lake Trail near the town of Kimberley in British Columbia.
Ms Hamilton also took to social media, posting in local community groups to ask if anyone had seen Ms Lane, who is known as"JM". Her concerns sparked a desperate search to find the missing hiker, which included the efforts of local police, a drone, search and rescue team, and police dogs, according to local media. Almost three days after Ms Lane vanished, her family confirmed she had been found dead in what they described as an"unfortunate hiking accident".
