Australia cares little for ‘deep-seated’ issues causing high NT domestic violence rate

There are “deep-seated issues” leading to high rates of domestic violence in the Northern Territory, and Australia often does not want to know about it, says Sky News Darwin Bureau Chief Matt Cunningham.

“There was a coronial inquiry conducted back in 2016 into the deaths of two women, two aboriginal women who had been killed in Alice Springs town camps, and Greg Cavanagh at the time detailed the retribution, and the fear

of retribution…the families that these women had coming forward,” Mr Cunningham told Sky News host Rita Panahi.“It’s a really serious issue … usually when we talk about it, we only scratch the surface of the issues involved.”
